Mirrimavale

The Mirrimavale timber plantation is situated between Gladstone and Bundaberg in North Queensland. With a creek on its boundary, the 1875 acre property has broad river flats, gentle undulating slopes and granite hills. Soils on the planation range from sandy soils with clay substrates to alluvial floodplains with deep alluvial soils. Since the first areas were planted in 2001 – 2003 the total plantation area now covers 1200 acres. Here, the native hardwood timber species of Spotted Gum, Gympie Messmate, Blackbutt, Red Mahogany, and White Gum are sequestering carbon at the rate of xxx tones per year.

To ensure this asset is sustainably managed to the same high standards of all the other properties in the group, Sundown Pastoral Company has contracted the services of Greenfield Resource Options Pty Limited (GRO). GRO is headed by Dr Nigel Turvey a highly respected forestry specialist with over 40 years experience in plantation forestry, agribusiness and biotechnology industries throughout Australia and South East Asia.
